Scanning and creating PDFs
How do I create several PDFs without restarting the scanner?
Scan the pages of the first document, tap the command to create its PDF, then continue straight away with the next document. The file saves in the background and the camera stays open.
Can I create a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Add every page of the same document before creating the PDF. Once that file is finished, you can immediately start the next document in the same session.
The camera won’t open. What should I do?
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, find Scantivo, and allow Camera access. On Android, open Settings, Apps, Scantivo, Permissions, then allow Camera access. Return to Scantivo and open the scanner again.
Why doesn’t automatic capture trigger?
Keep the whole document inside the frame, use a contrasting background, avoid glare, and hold the device still for a moment. You can always take the picture manually when conditions are difficult.
How can I get a sharper, more readable scan?
Use even lighting, avoid shadows and glare, lay the document flat, and keep all four edges visible. Cleaning the device camera lens can also make a noticeable difference.
Organizing, searching, and editing
How do I correct a document’s corners and edges?
This feature is available from the preview of a page created in Document mode.
Open the PDF from the library and display the page you want to correct.
In the bar below the preview, tap “Adjust corners”.
Move a corner handle to correct only the corresponding corner.
Move a handle in the middle of an edge to shape that edge locally, especially when it is curved or uneven.
Use “Automatic detection” to ask Scantivo to find the document edges again.
Use “Reset” to return to the framing that was present before your changes.
Tap “Done” to apply the correction to the page.
When the original image is available, Scantivo uses it as the source for the correction. For some older PDFs whose original image was not retained, the framing can be tightened, but previously cropped areas cannot be recovered.
How do I find a PDF?
Name search is included in the free version. With Scantivo Unlimited, content search can also find a word or phrase inside your PDFs. All processing stays on your device.
Can I search for an amount in an invoice or receipt?
Yes. With Scantivo Unlimited, enter a number or amount recognized on a page, for example “59.85”. Search can then return every PDF that contains it, such as the Horizon Marché receipt and invoice. Analysis runs locally on the device.
How do I rename a document?
You can rename a PDF manually from the library. With Scantivo Unlimited, a name can also be suggested automatically after on-device analysis; always check it before official use.
What can I edit in a PDF with Scantivo Unlimited?
You can rotate, reorder, add, duplicate, extract, delete, or share pages. You can also apply a page appearance and give each page its own label.
Can I add new pages to an existing PDF?
Yes. Open the PDF in the editing tools, choose to add pages, and scan the new sheets. The existing document is extended without having to recreate it.
How do I share or extract only certain pages?
In the PDF editor, select one or more pages, then choose Share or Extract. Extraction can create a new PDF while either keeping the pages in or removing them from the original document.
What is the destination folder for?
It keeps an additional copy of each PDF in a storage location you choose on the device or through the system, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or another compatible service. When deleting, “Delete from Scantivo” keeps that copy; “Delete Everywhere” removes it too.
Free version, trial, and purchase
What is included in the free version?
It includes continuous scanning, up to 15 created PDFs per month, name search, and manual renaming. The counter automatically resets at the start of each calendar month.
How does the 14-day trial work?
The trial starts only if you choose to activate it. For 14 days, it unlocks the advanced tools, Scantivo Pulse, and up to 3 Photo pages in total across all PDFs. This global allowance does not reset. The free version outside the trial does not include Scantivo Pulse; after the trial, Scantivo Pulse is reserved for Scantivo Unlimited. The limit remains 15 saved PDFs per month, and no purchase is triggered at the end.
Is Scantivo Unlimited a subscription?
No. Scantivo Unlimited is a one-time purchase with no subscription: through the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and through Google Play on Android.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
In Settings, tap Restore Purchases using the same Apple or Google account used for the purchase on that platform. A purchase remains tied to its store and does not transfer between the App Store and Google Play. This restores Unlimited, not your documents; use a backup file for those.
Is support for Scantivo tax-deductible?
No. It is a voluntary payment with no consideration, collected by SAS CAMPO STELLATO. It does not qualify for a tax reduction or a tax-deductible donation receipt.
Backup and privacy
Are my documents sent over the Internet?
Scanning, automatic renaming, and search are processed on the device. A document is transmitted only if you choose to share it, save it to a remote folder, or enable optional Library Sync.
How do I back up and restore my library?
In Settings, open “Backup and Restore.” Encrypted backup is available during the optional 14-day trial, then with Scantivo Unlimited; the free version outside the trial does not include it. Choose a password and save the file away from the device. To recover the library, choose “Restore Backup” and select that file.
What if I forget my backup password?
Scantivo never stores or transmits that password. It therefore cannot recover it or open a backup without the correct password. Keep it in a trusted password manager.
Can I recover my documents after losing or replacing my device?
Yes, but only if you kept a backup file on another device, external drive, or accessible remote location. No Scantivo account is needed. A backup stored only on the lost device cannot be recovered.
Troubleshooting
My Unlimited purchase isn’t recognized. What should I do?
Make sure the device uses the Apple or Google account that made the purchase and is connected to the Internet, then open Scantivo Settings and tap Restore Purchases. App Store purchases restore only on Apple platforms, and Google Play purchases only on Android.
The destination-folder copy is no longer updating.
The folder may have been moved, renamed, or had its access revoked. Open Scantivo Settings and choose the folder again. Also check that a PDF with the same name is not blocking the update.
Scantivo can’t save a PDF.
Check the available storage on the device, then try again. In the free version or during the trial, also make sure the monthly limit of 15 PDFs has not been reached.
Search can’t find a word that is in a document.
Content search requires Scantivo Unlimited and depends on scan legibility. Try a shorter word, check the spelling, and allow a moment for a newly created or restored document to finish being analyzed.
How do I report a bug effectively?
Email contact@scantivo.fr with the device model, platform (iPhone, iPad, or Android), system version, Scantivo version, steps that trigger the problem, and any message shown. A screenshot is useful if it contains no sensitive information.
About the translations
How were the website translations produced?
The Scantivo website was translated from French with the help of artificial intelligence. Some errors may remain. We apologize for them. If you notice one, please let us know at contact@scantivo.fr. The French version is the reference version.
Document and Photo modes
What is the difference between Document and Photo modes?
Document mode detects paper with the purple frame, can capture automatically or manually, then crops and corrects perspective. Photo mode manually captures the camera’s full image, with no document detection, purple frame, or perspective correction. It does not import an image from the photo library.
Can I use Photo mode in “Add Pages”?
Yes. Photo mode is available in the main scanner and in “Add Pages” to extend an existing PDF. During the trial, the global limit is 3 Photo pages saved in total across the 14 days and across all PDFs. Unlimited removes that limit.
Scantivo Pulse
How does Scantivo Pulse work?
You choose a compatible folder to follow. When a new revision published by Scantivo arrives in that folder through the compatible storage service, Scantivo Pulse displays an alert. Scantivo Pulse is included during the 14-day trial, then reserved for Scantivo Unlimited; it is not available in the free version outside the trial.
What data is sent for a Scantivo Pulse alert?
Scantivo receives neither the PDF, its name, its path nor its contents. The signal used to trigger the alert contains no file, name, path, page, text or image.
Can Scantivo or its developer open my documents?
No. Scantivo does not host or synchronise the PDF and does not connect to your storage account. Neither Scantivo nor its developer can view or open your documents remotely.
Which Scantivo Pulse paths are guaranteed?
The only guaranteed paths are Apple to Apple — between iPhone and iPad with a compatible iCloud Drive folder — and Android to Android with a compatible Google Drive folder. Apple-to-Android tracking through the same folder is not guaranteed. The selected service remains solely responsible for synchronisation under its own terms and privacy policy.
Can the same folder be followed across Apple and Android devices?
No. That path is not guaranteed. Apple devices follow each other through a compatible iCloud Drive folder; Android devices follow each other through a compatible Google Drive folder. Scantivo does not connect to any storage account.
Library Sync
Do I need a Scantivo account to synchronize my library?
No. Scantivo uses the private app space attached to the active iCloud account on Apple devices, or to the Google account you choose on Android. Scantivo does not create or operate a document account for you.
Can I synchronize an iPhone with an iPad?
Yes, when both devices use the same iCloud account and Library Sync is enabled in Scantivo.
Can I synchronize an Android phone with an Android tablet?
Yes, when the same Google account is authorized on both devices and Library Sync is enabled in Scantivo.
Can I synchronize an iPhone with an Android device?
No. Apple synchronization and Android synchronization use separate private storage systems and do not exchange libraries with each other.
What happens if I delete a PDF on one device?
When Library Sync is enabled, the deletion is also synchronized to the other devices using that library. Scantivo asks you to confirm this behavior when you first enable synchronization.
What is the difference between Library Sync and full backup?
Synchronization keeps the current library aligned between devices. Backup creates a restorable copy for recovery. Synchronization is not a replacement for backup.
Is Library Sync included in the free version?
Only during the optional 14-day trial. After that, Library Sync and full backup require Scantivo Unlimited. The free version outside the trial includes neither feature.
