Clear answers about continuous multi-PDF scanning, living PDFs, privacy, and Unlimited.
What is a continuous Multi-PDF scanner?
A continuous Multi-PDF scanner creates multiple standalone PDFs in one session. With Scantivo, each PDF saves in the background while the camera stays open for the next document.
What is the difference between a multipage PDF and continuous Multi-PDF?
A multipage PDF combines several pages into one file. Continuous Multi-PDF creates separate PDF files one after another without closing the camera between documents.
Can you create multiple PDFs without leaving the scanner?
Yes. Scantivo creates multiple standalone PDFs in one session without returning to the menu or library between documents.
How do you scan several documents without starting over every time?
Scan the pages of the first document, create its PDF, then continue straight to the next one. The file saves in the background and the scanning session stays open.
How do you quickly scan a stack of documents on mobile?
Line up your documents, open the scanner, and keep the same rhythm: scan, create the PDF, continue. You stay in one flow from the first sheet to the last. The speed comes less from flashier capture and more from removing the save-leave-relaunch loop between documents.
Why is uninterrupted scanning faster?
Because most lost time sits between documents: save, leave, return, relaunch. Removing those returns makes the workflow more direct and fluid. Capture itself may feel familiar; the real gain is keeping the camera open and moving from one finished PDF to the next without breaking concentration.
Does the camera stay open after a PDF is saved?
Yes. The PDF saves in the background, the camera stays open, and you can start the next document immediately.
How do you scan several documents separately?
Treat each document as its own unit: scan its pages, finalize its PDF, then move on. Every file stays independent. That is useful when invoices, receipts, or contracts must remain separate for filing, sharing, or accounting—rather than ending up as pages inside one mixed multipage PDF.
How do you turn a stack of documents into multiple PDFs?
Keep the stack in front of you and advance document by document in the same session. Each finalization produces a distinct PDF ready to file. You transform a pile into separate files without restarting capture, returning to the library, or merging unrelated papers into one oversized document.
Can you add new pages to an existing PDF?
Yes. Reopen the PDF and use “Add Pages”. Document mode is available; Photo mode is available during the trial within the global allowance of 3 Photo pages saved in total across the 14 days and across all PDFs, or without limits with Scantivo Unlimited.
What is a living PDF?
A living PDF is a file you can complete over time: reopen it later, scan new pages, and add them to the same document, like a digital binder. Instead of freezing a file on the day you create it, you keep one evolving PDF that stays organized as new paper arrives.
How do you create a course PDF that grows all year?
Create one PDF per subject or chapter, then add new sheets over the weeks. The same file grows with your year. When a lecture handout or homework page appears, reopen the existing course PDF and append the scan instead of starting a disconnected new document each time.
How do you create a living PDF recipe book?
Create a “My recipes” PDF, add sheets over time, then label each page—for example “Tiramisu”, “Lasagna”, or “Lemon tart”. You can edit those labels and rename the full PDF. Then find the document by name, or search a word in the content with Scantivo Unlimited.
How do you organize documents in Scantivo?
By creating independent PDFs and filing them in the Scantivo library. With Scantivo Unlimited, the name is generated automatically in the background from document analysis; without Unlimited, a generic name is assigned and can be renamed manually in the library.
How do you find a PDF easily?
Use search by name (free) to find a PDF such as “My recipes”, or search inside PDF content (Scantivo Unlimited) for a word on a page, like “mascarpone” or “béchamel”. Content search runs locally on the device.
Can it scan invoices and receipts?
Yes. Invoices, receipts, tickets, and proofs are especially well suited to continuous multi-PDF: one file per document, without restarting a session each time. That keeps expense items, accounting packets, and archives cleaner than mixing every receipt into a single multipage PDF.
Is it suitable for professionals?
Yes, whenever several independent documents must be handled in a row—freelancers, craftspeople, offices, liberal professions, associations, or property management. It remains a scanning tool, not accounting software and not an archive with legal evidentiary value. The benefit is workflow continuity, not specialized compliance claims.
Is it easy and intuitive?
Yes. The workflow follows the natural order of your documents: scan, create the PDF, continue — with almost no handling between two documents.
Is it an affordable PDF scanner?
It offers a modern, accessible PDF scanner: continuous scanning essentials are free within the app’s limit of 15 PDFs per month, and advanced tools come through a one-time Unlimited purchase with no subscription. You get a premium flow without being pushed into recurring billing for the core experience.
Are documents handled confidentially?
Processing happens on the device. No account is required, and the library is not stored on Scantivo servers. Any transfer to a remote location is your choice. Auto-rename, content search, and backup are designed to run locally, with no imposed Scantivo cloud.
Does Scantivo work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Scantivo is designed for iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Is it an alternative to Adobe Scan or CamScanner?
It can be an alternative if you mainly want a continuous multi-PDF workflow and fewer interruptions between documents. It does not claim to be better on every criterion of every app. Compare on the real differentiator: multiple independent PDFs in one camera session, not a laundry list of unrelated features.
Can you extract, move, or reorder PDF pages?
Yes. Scantivo Unlimited lets you rotate, reorder, add, extract, delete, and share pages, and add a page into another existing PDF.
Why is it different from a classic PDF scanner?
A classic scanner is often built around one document at a time. This product is built for stacks: multiple independent PDFs, one session, camera open, rhythm preserved. The difference is the workflow between documents, not just sharper capture of a single page.
Can you name each page in a PDF?
Yes. With Scantivo Unlimited, you can assign a label to a page so its content is clear at a glance—for example “Tiramisu”, “Lasagna”, or “Lemon tart” in a recipes PDF. The label can then be edited or cleared from the page management tools.
Can you search for a recipe inside a PDF?
Yes. Content search lets you find a recipe from a word on the page, such as “mascarpone” or “béchamel”. That search runs locally on the device and is part of Scantivo Unlimited. Search by PDF name remains available for free.
What is the difference between a page label and the PDF name?
The PDF name identifies the whole document—for example “My recipes”. The label identifies a specific page inside the file—for example “Tiramisu” or “Lasagna”. They are two separate functions.
Can I search for an amount in an invoice or receipt?
Yes. With Scantivo Unlimited, content search can find a number or amount recognized on a page. Searching for “59.85” can therefore return both the Horizon Marché receipt and invoice. Analysis runs locally on the device.
What is the difference between Document and Photo modes?
Document mode detects paper with the purple frame, can capture automatically when stable or manually, then crops and corrects perspective. Photo mode captures the camera’s full image only when you press the shutter, with no document detection, purple frame, cropping, or perspective correction.
Does Photo mode import an image from the photo library?
No. Photo mode takes a photo directly with the camera. It is available in the main scanner and in “Add Pages”. It is locked in Free, limited to 3 Photo pages saved in total across the entire trial and across all PDFs, and unlimited with Scantivo Unlimited.
Can I take a photo and add it directly to an existing PDF?
Yes. Open the PDF, choose “Add Pages”, then select Photo mode. The camera manually captures the full image without document detection or perspective correction and adds it to the PDF. During the trial, the global limit is 3 Photo pages saved in total across all PDFs; Unlimited removes this limit.
How do I straighten a curved or distorted page with Scantivo?
Open the PDF, display the page you want to correct, then choose “Adjust corners”. Four corner handles correct the corners and four side handles shape curved or uneven edges locally. You can also run automatic edge detection again or return to the previous framing.
What is Scantivo Pulse?
Scantivo Pulse is Scantivo’s private PDF revision-tracking system. Each person chooses a compatible folder to follow on their own device. When the storage service synchronises a new revision published by Scantivo into that folder, Pulse alerts them.
How does Scantivo Pulse recognise a new version?
A pseudonymous document identity remains attached to the PDF. When a new revision published by Scantivo reaches a followed compatible folder, Pulse recognises that identity and can trigger an alert. It does not claim to monitor every change made by other apps.
Which changes trigger an alert?
Only new revisions published by Scantivo are announced, for example after correcting a PDF or adding a page in Scantivo. An arbitrary change made by another app is not presented as a compatible trigger.
Who receives a Scantivo Pulse alert?
Only people who have enabled Pulse themselves for the relevant compatible folder can receive the alert. Scantivo creates no recipient list and does not notify anyone who has not chosen to follow that folder.
Do I need a Scantivo account or a recipient list?
No. Scantivo Pulse works without a Scantivo account and without adding recipients in Scantivo. Each person chooses the compatible folders they want to follow.
Who can use Scantivo Pulse?
Scantivo Pulse is included during the 14-day trial. The free version outside the trial does not include it. After the trial, Scantivo Pulse is available exclusively with Scantivo Unlimited.
Does Scantivo Pulse transmit my PDFs or their filenames?
No. Scantivo receives neither the PDF, its name, its path nor its contents. The signal used to trigger the alert contains no file, name, path, page, text or image. Neither Scantivo nor its developer can open your documents remotely.
Which Scantivo Pulse paths are guaranteed?
The only guaranteed paths are Apple to Apple — between iPhone and iPad with a compatible iCloud Drive folder — and Android to Android with a compatible Google Drive folder. Apple-to-Android tracking through the same folder is not guaranteed. The selected service remains solely responsible for synchronisation under its own terms and privacy policy. Scantivo does not connect to your storage account.
Why does Scantivo describe Pulse as a first?
To the best of our knowledge, this combination is a first in a mobile scanner: private PDF revision tracking, with no Scantivo account and without sending Scantivo the document, its name, its path or its contents. The claim is based on a competitive review completed on August 13, 2026.
Do I need a Scantivo account to synchronize my library?
No. Scantivo uses the private app space attached to the active iCloud account on Apple devices, or to the Google account you choose on Android. Scantivo does not create or operate a document account for you.
Can I synchronize an iPhone with an iPad?
Yes, when both devices use the same iCloud account and Library Sync is enabled in Scantivo.
Can I synchronize an Android phone with an Android tablet?
Yes, when the same Google account is authorized on both devices and Library Sync is enabled in Scantivo.
Can I synchronize an iPhone with an Android device?
No. Apple synchronization and Android synchronization use separate private storage systems and do not exchange libraries with each other.
What happens if I delete a PDF on one device?
When Library Sync is enabled, the deletion is also synchronized to the other devices using that library. Scantivo asks you to confirm this behavior when you first enable synchronization.
What is the difference between Library Sync and full backup?
Synchronization keeps the current library aligned between devices. Backup creates a restorable copy for recovery. Synchronization is not a replacement for backup.
Is Library Sync included in the free version?
Only during the optional 14-day trial. After that, Library Sync and full backup require Scantivo Unlimited. The free version outside the trial includes neither feature.
